Context
@aleph_one contacted me on a random Discord server to gauge my interest around a cool little indie gaming project. With eyes so bright and a tail bushier than ever, I led the redesign of this platform with passion and excitement.
When I landed on the site, my initial impression was that the design felt rough and unpolished, leading me to feel unsure about the safety and legitimacy of the platform. When I signed up for the first time the process was easy enough, but without context about the game, I probably would not have even entered my email and left altogether.
Focusing on the new user segment is not only crucial to get more sign-ups, but also to enhance the first impression that people have of the platform.
There was a lack of introductory information about the platform and game. The first thing I wanted to do was learn how to play and I had to do some digging to find a tutorial.
Observations
You will likely not be able to play unless you are part of the Discord group
Currently the only button to find the Discord server was in the lobby page, and it was nearly invisible
When you come to Cuttle for the first time, the login page appears first instead of sign-up
We want to keep the sign up at the forefront and put the login behind the tertiary button instead
The rules need to be accessed through a button below a large paragraph
Bring the rules button further up in hierarchy to help people
