A Tribute to My Creative Journey

As a creative, I oftentimes look back on my old work through a critical lens. Yet, at the moment of creation, each piece filled me with pride and joy - only to be tucked away in a folder, never to be seen again. These pieces are the building blocks of my growth, shaping me into the designer I am today. I want to celebrate these milestones and hope to inspire others to embrace their own creative evolutions.

Product Design 2021-Present

2022-2023

Forkast Labs Flagship Indexes

I’m very proud of this piece because it was the first 0 → 1 product I had the opportunity to design. It has my fingerprint on every part of the platform, and although the company may not have reached it’s peak succession, it will always be one that’s deeply personal to me.

Cuttle.Cards Login + Landing Page

2022-Present

Cuttle.Cards was the first real project I worked on as a Product Designer. Through my ambition (and despair) in being self-taught, I found myself on a Discord channel full of engineers learning to code. User @Aleph_one reached out to me to inquire my interest and the rest was history.

I am still working on features for this platform to this day.

CryptoSlam NFT Token Page Redesign

2022-2023

I actually did a promo video for CryptoSlam a while before they joined forces with Forkast.News (my first Web3 company). This was an especially fun project to work on, finally allowing me to go through the entire design process… go read the case study please (:

Creative Direction & Motion Graphics 2020-2023

Word on the Block & The Daily Forkast

2020-2022

These two online shows were a big part of my journey into motion graphics. Back then I’d be pulling my hair out trying to develop some of these concepts. These were two of the flagship shows I helped brand and develop.

The editing process for these was pretty rough - a lot of the editing work had to be done between Premiere & After Effects and I had to develop a strict flow for the editor to follow. This was shot and edited 5 days out of the week 💀

Partnered Segments

2021-2022

All of the branding work I did led to interest and partnerships with Web3 companies. Here are some examples of the branding we’d have to come up with for each partnered shows.

Bitcoin & Beyond Virtual Event

2021

This was by far the coolest project, Bitcoin & Beyond. I also remember it as one of the most DIFFICULT projects that sucked the life out of me. I remember stressing SO MUCH on concepting this entire virtual event’s brand identity - from colors, to the typography, website, live skins, and promo videos.

I did all the branding + motion graphics in this video with storyboard help from my fellow designer @Bridget Fong

Some skins, transitions, and branding from the branded events.

Editor / Filmmaker 2015-2020

In Prose & Palms Short Documentary

2021

Did I mention I won an Emmy? Before my journey into design, I was a documentary filmmaker. My work focused on culture, art, and lifestyle content based in Hawaii. My experience in film touches every part of my work today.

I Was a Simple Man

2019

Fun fact about me - I also had a short stint as an actor. I got to act alongside Constance Wu in a Sundance film! I also had to wear pizza shoes because I was shorter than my female counterpart. It now all feels like a nostalgic memory.

Protocol Labs HackFS Highlight Reel

2020

This was my first ever project for Web3. Back in 2020 I had 0 knowledge of the space, and got my first class in blockchain from this video. The technology and all the people building on Web3 really inspired me at the time and I was just in complete awe.
